1. Product Introduction

Formation: Formed when magma from volcanic eruptions cools rapidly. Escaping internal gases create naturally honeycombed porous basalt/pumice. It exists in natural irregular shapes and is processed into lumps and granular materials through crushing and screening.

Colors: Red, brownish red, black, grey-black.

Core Properties

·         Well-developed interconnected pores with porosity ranging from 40% to 75% and large specific surface area;

·         Rich in trace elements including silicon, magnesium, iron and calcium, capable of slowly releasing minerals;

·         Acid and alkali resistant, weathering resistant, non-radioactive and chemically stable;

·         Natural porous structure endows it with functions of adsorption, air permeability, biofilm formation (microbe cultivation), heat storage and far-infrared radiation.

2. Product Applications

1) Water Treatment & Environmental Filter Media (Largest Consumption Field) Applied in Biological Aerated Filters (BAF), constructed wetlands, black and odorous water remediation and advanced sewage treatment. It intercepts impurities and degrades ammonia nitrogen and nitrite, serving as an alternative to quartz sand and anthracite filter media.

2)Aquarium & Aquaculture Used as aquarium filter media and fish pond substrate. It cultivates nitrifying bacteria, stabilizes water quality and creates landscapes, ideal for South American planted tanks and native fish habitats.

3)Horticulture Substrate for succulents, orchids and bonsai. Mixed into soil to improve soil condition, prevent hardening and enhance drainage and air permeability; also used for pot bottom bedding and surface covering.

4)Landscape Engineering Rockery stones, path gravel, courtyard landscaping, dry stream filling; aggregate for permeable pavements (sponge city construction).

5)Construction Materials Lightweight concrete aggregate, volcanic stone veneer panels, exterior decoration, sound-absorbing walls and roof thermal insulation layers.

6)Wellness & Other Industrial Uses Hot compress physiotherapy stones, volcanic stone barbecue slabs; abrasive materials, feed additives, filler for far-infrared functional products.
